Aliette de Bodard è un'autrice di science fiction e fantasy nata negli Stati Uniti, cresciuta in Francia. Nonostante sia cresciuta nella splendida città di Parigi, i suoi genitori si sono assicurati che parlasse inglese fin da giovane ed i suoi libri sono disponibili in lingua inglese. De Bodard è nota per la sua narrazione unica che combina elementi del suo patrimonio vietnamita con temi di science fiction e fantasy.
De Bodard ha vinto numerosi premi per il suo lavoro, tra cui tre Nebula Awards, un Ignyte Award, un Locus Award, un British Fantasy Award e quattro British Science Fiction Association Awards. È stata anche finalista due volte al Hugo per le categorie di Miglior Serie e Miglior Noveletta del 2019. Il suo libro più recente è "Fireheart Tiger", un fantasy romantico sapphico ispirato al Vietnam pre-coloniale, in cui una principessa diplomatica deve decidere il destino del suo paese e del suo cuore. Ha anche scritto "Seven of Infinities", un'operazione spaziale in cui una nave spaziale senziente e uno studioso dritto indagano su un omicidio e si ritrovano a innamorarsi l'uno dell'altro.
Oltre ai suoi lavori più recenti, De Bodard è l'autrice della trilogia di Obsidian and Blood di Aztec noir fantasies di successo critico, nonché di numerosi racconti che le hanno fatto vincere due Nebula Awards, un Locus Award e due British Science Fiction Association Awards.
