Brandon Sanderson è un autore americano affermato, nato a Lincoln, Nebraska, nel 1975. È noto soprattutto per il suo lavoro nei generi fantasy e science fiction. Sanderson ha studiato biochimica alla Brigham Young University, ma la sua passione per la narrazione lo ha portato a interrompere gli studi per svolgere un lavoro missionario con la Chiesa di Gesù Cristo dei Santi degli Ultimi Giorni.
La carriera letteraria di Sanderson è decollata mentre studiava per il suo Master alla Brigham Young University, dove ha editato la rivista Leading Edge. Il suo successo è arrivato con la serie Mistborn, che gli ha garantito un riconoscimento significativo. Dopo la morte di Robert Jordan, Sanderson è stato scelto per completare la famosa serie di Jordan, The Wheel of Time, utilizzando le note di Jordan.
Oltre a Mistborn e The Wheel of Time, Sanderson scrive anche la serie Alcatraz e The Stormlight Archive, una serie di 10 libri. Insegna anche scrittura creativa alla Brigham Young University e risiede nel Utah con la sua famiglia.
