Brian Keene è un autore americano molto affermato, noto per i suoi lavori nei generi horror, fantasy oscuro, crimine e thriller. Ha scritto numerosi romanzi, graphic novel e fumetti, e i suoi lavori sono stati tradotti in diverse lingue, tra cui tedesco, spagnolo, polacco, italiano, francese e taiwanese. Il romanzo "The Rising" di Keene è accreditato per aver contribuito a ispirare la fascinazione di pop culture per i zombie, insieme ad altre opere notevoli come la serie "Walking Dead" di Robert Kirkman e il film "28 Days Later."
