Eric Brown è un autore molto prolifico, noto per la sua scrittura di fantascienza. È nato a Haworth, West Yorkshire, Inghilterra, il 24 maggio 1960 ed ha vissuto in varie parti del mondo, tra cui Australia, India e Grecia. L'interesse di Brown per la scrittura è nato nel 1975 ed egli ha scritto più di quarantacinque libri e pubblicato più di centoventi racconti brevi. Il suo lavoro è stato tradotto in sedici lingue ed è stato nominato per il British Science Fiction Award cinque volte, vincendolo due volte per i suoi racconti brevi nel 2000 e nel 2002.
Brown ha scritto diverse serie, tra cui la Trilogia Virex, la serie Bengal Station, la serie Weird Space, la serie Multiplicity, la serie Helix e la serie Starship. Oltre al suo lavoro di fantascienza, ha anche scritto una dozzina di libri per bambini e giovani adulti, nonché libri per lettori riluttanti. È noto per la sua rubrica mensile di recensioni di fantascienza per il giornale The Guardian. Gli hobby di Brown includono la collezione di libri e la cucina, in particolare i curry indiani. Attualmente risiede a Dunbar, East Lothian, con sua moglie e sua figlia, insieme al loro setter rosso e bianco, Uther.
