Gav Thorpe è un autore inglese bestseller, originario di Nottingham, in Inghilterra. Vanta una prestigiosa carriera nello sviluppo e progettazione di prodotti per la Games Workshop, avendo collaborato con l'azienda dal 1994. Durante il suo periodo in Games Workshop, Thorpe ha creato regole per vari giochi da tavolo e di miniature, ha scritto romanzi, racconti e contribuito allo sviluppo di video e giochi da tavolo.
La carriera di scrittore di Thorpe ha avuto una svolta decisiva quando è stato lanciato l'imprint Black Library nel 1997. Ha iniziato a scrivere romanzi e racconti ambientati nei mondi di Warhammer e Warhammer 40,000 e ha continuato a scrivere per Black Library da allora. Oltre al suo lavoro per la Black Library, Thorpe ha anche pubblicato la sua serie di romanzi, The Crown of the Blood, tramite Angry Robot.
Al momento, Thorpe vive a Nottingham con la sua compagna amorevole, Kez, e il loro giovane figlio, Sammy. Nonostante le richieste della sua carriera di scrittore, Thorpe è dedicato alla sua famiglia e si impegna per mantenere un sano equilibrio tra lavoro e vita privata. Le sue esperienze come padre e partner hanno sicuramente influenzato la sua scrittura, aggiungendo profondità e sfumature ai suoi personaggi e alla narrazione.
