Mariko Tamaki è una pluripremiata scrittrice, originaria di Toronto, in Canada. È nota per il suo lavoro come scrittrice, drammaturga, attivista e performer. Tamaki ha collaborato con vari gruppi, tra cui il gruppo attivista per le taglie forti Pretty Porky and Pissed Off e la compagnia teatrale TOA. Il suo lavoro di scrittura è stato ben accolto, con il romanzo "Cover Me" (McGilligan Books) che ha guadagnato una notevole attenzione. Ha anche pubblicato una raccolta di racconti brevi intitolata "True Lies: The Book of Bad Advice" (Women's Press) e ha un terzo libro, "FAKE ID", previsto per la primavera del 2005.
