Tanya Huff è une autrice canadese molto famosa e prolifica, nota principalmente per i suoi lavori nei generi fantasy e science fiction. È nata a Halifax, Nuova Scozia, nel 1957, ma ha trascorso gran parte della sua infanzia a Kingston, Ontario. Huff ha conseguito un titolo in Radio e Television Arts al Ryerson Polytechnical Institute e i suoi primi anni di carriera hanno incluso il servizio nella Riserva Navale Canadese e il lavoro da Bakka, la più antica libreria di science fiction sopravvissuta in Nord America. È durante il suo periodo a Bakka che Huff ha iniziato a scrivere sul serio, producendo sette libri e nove racconti lavorando a tempo pieno.
La carriera di scrittura di Huff si è ormai estesa per diversi decenni e ha numerose serie e opere singole al suo attivo. Queste includono la serie Blood, la serie Smoke, Keeper's Chronicles, Valor Confederation e diverse serie più piccole. La sua serie Blood, che presenta il detective Vicki Nelson, è stata adattata per la televisione con il titolo Blood Ties. Oltre alla sua fiction, Huff ha anche scritto per fumetti e ha visto le sue storie adattate per audio.
Huff è attualmente sposata con Fiona Patton e vive in campagna, dove si gode la vita da scrittore a tempo pieno, oltre a Xena, Hercules ed e-mail. Ha una predilezione per i lavori di Charles de Lint e non è propensa al telefono, coperte elettriche o ristrutturazioni da bagno.
