Tom Harper, noto anche con lo pseudonimo di Edwin Thomas, è un autore affermato nel campo dei romanzi storici e thriller. Harper è nato a Francoforte, in West Germania, e ha trascorso la sua giovinezza in Belgio e Connecticut. La sua passione per la storia lo ha portato a studiare la materia al Lincoln College Oxford. Dopo alcuni anni di lavoro, ha deciso di dedicarsi alla sua passione per la scrittura ed è stato finalista del CWA Debut Dagger contest.
La carriera di scrittore di Harper è decollata nel 2003 con la pubblicazione del suo primo romanzo, "The Blighted Cliffs", scritto sotto il suo vero nome, Edwin Thomas. Il suo primo romanzo con lo pseudonimo, "The Mosaic of Shadows", è stato pubblicato nel 2004. Da allora, ha scritto undici thriller storici, tutti tradotti in venti lingue straniere in tutto il mondo. È autore delle serie Martin Jerrold e Demetrios Askiates, nonché di alcuni romanzi autoconclusivi.
Harper risiede attualmente a York, in Inghilterra, con sua moglie e due figli. È un membro attivo della Crime Writers' Association, della Historical Novels Society e della Society of Authors. Oltre a scrivere sotto il nome di Tom Harper, scrive anche avventure storiche come Edwin Thomas. Nonostante abbia diversi nomi, Harper si è affermato come autore di successo nel mondo della narrativa storica e dei thriller.
